Clouds and stars (activity in preparation, not yet available)
BY DAY...
If bad weather is threatening, why not take an interest in the meteorology and the clouds, whose succession can often forecast the weather? The altostratus heralds regular rainfall, the cumulonimbus showers, and the altocumulus, the source of the famous dappled sky, is quite a story... !
There are only ten or so forms of clouds in the world, which you will discover by looking up and through a slide show. You will also follow the variations in barometric pressure, temperature and hygrometry throughout the day.
...AS WELL AS AT NIGHT!
On a clear night, you will observe the stars, planets and the main constellations. I will reveal their mythology: Cassiopeia, the Northern Crown, the Scorpion, the Swan and the famous Big and Little Bears.
You will learn to locate the most visible stars: red giants (Antares, Betelgeuse, Aldebaran...), blue supergiants (Rigel, Déneb...) or, simple but essential, the Polar Star. We will find some nebulae (Lyra, Orion), galaxies (Andromeda) or star clusters (Pleiades). Finally, if they are present, the main planets of the solar system will be offered to you: Mars the red one, Venus the beautiful one, Saturn the bewitching one, Jupiter the imposing one and of course the Moon and its fabulous craters.
For this, you will have two possibilities, which can be combined:
- in "pro" mode with a 900 x 150 mm telescope or a 900 x 60 mm refracting telescope
- in "cool" mode, with the naked eye or binoculars, lying horizontally on a deckchair, warm under a blanket, watching the shooting stars and artificial satellites pass by.
