From the Gauls to the English

GUIDED TOUR OF THE HAUT-MAINE BY CAR AND ON FOOT, WITH VISITS TO THE SITES

Description :

  • Departure from the House of Woods, crossing the Perseigne forest to discover an 11th-century feudal mound (ancestor of a fortified castle), followed by a guided tour of a Renaissance manor house by its owners (duration: 1 h)
  • Visit a village fortified by the English in the 12th century then see one of the few reconstructed wooden Gallic temples in France 
  • Visit to the exterior of a castle from the 17th century with a landscape reading, then come back via the old Louzes quarry and the Perseigne fault


Duration: 1 hour by car + 3 hours on foot with possibility of extending the tour by half a day, for example to the famous "Mancelles Alps".


Quotation of the visits according to the scale of the French Federation of Hiking:

  • EFFORTlevel 1 "Easy" (no particular difficulty)
  • TECHNICITY: level 1 "Easy" (route with virtually no obstacles)
  • RISK: level 2 "Fairly Low" (risk of minor injury: dislocation, sprain, etc.)


Price*: €50 for the first adult, €10 for subsequent adults, €5 per child (maximum 3 people). Supplement of €20 per adult if circuit is extended.
* The price includes the round trip by (electric) car from the House of Woods, but does not include meals or accommodation (these can be organised or you can camp on site). Possibility of picking you up and dropping you off at the Surdon railway station with a direct link to Paris 1h30 away (surcharge of €40).
